MRS. ALLEGAR

Liz Allegar feels blessed and excited to be entering into her fifth year of teaching at Brighton Academy.  She loves being able to partner with parents in educating their younger learners about the wonders of God’s world.

​

A native of St. Louis, Liz earned her BA from Monmouth College in, Monmouth, Illinois with academic concentrations in both Elementary Education and Religious Studies.  The early years of her professional career were spent teaching kindergarten and fourth grade.  In 1996 Liz re-entered the classroom at Whitefield Academy, a Classical Christian school, where she taught first grade for 14 years.  During her time at Whitefield, Liz taught both the highly effective Spell to Write and Read and Cursive First curriculums.  In 2010 she stepped away from teaching to take care of family responsibilities for a time.  Liz is thrilled to be back in the classroom again.

 

Liz’s son Drew and his wife Meghan, live in Fort Lauderdale where Drew is a pilot and Meghan works in banking as a commercial auditor.  Her daughter Katie Theiss, a former Brighton Progym teacher, and her husband Matt live in Shawnee with their three adorable daughters.  Katie teaches middle school and Matt works at Quest Diagnostics.  To Liz, being a grandmother is the best of the best and she absolutely loves enjoying life with her three granddaughters!
